Andreas Halvorsen and David Ott formed Viking Global Investors in 1999. They are both former members of Tiger Management and most recently had 9.6bn under management. Like other tiger cubs they employ a long/short equity strategy. The firm was able to outperform peers and actually turn a profit by significantly reducing their leverage as well as their market exposure in 2008.
